Renfe enters the Italian market

In November 2024, Renfe acquired 33% of Longitude Holding, an Italian company specialising in rail transport. Longitude Holding, founded in 2021 in Turin, operates under the Arenaways brand and has authorisations to operate on both regional and long-haul routes in Italy.

From January 2025, Renfe will start to operate the Cuneo-Saluzzo-Savigliano regional line through Arenaways. This reopening is part of a 10-year contract with the Piedmont Mobility Agency (AMP) and is worth €54 million. It is expected that in the coming years the Ceva-Ormea line will also be reopened once the necessary infrastructure works by RFI (Italian Railway Network) are completed.
