Ave to France

Renfe offers its Alta Velocidad (high-speed) services in France

In the summer of 2023, Renfe Viajeros (Renfe Passengers) started to operate direct high-speed services between Barcelona and Lyon and between Madrid and Marseille, a milestone for the company, and the first time that a Spanish engine driver has participated in commercial operations beyond Perpignan.

Renfe's short-term goal is to become a leading operator of the French railway market, to obtain the Safety Certificate that will allow it to expand its AVE (high-speed) operations to other corridors, such as Lyon-Paris, and to offer new international connection services and roll out its services in France as a public service provider.

Beyond the international connection, Renfe arrives in France to compete in the domestic market with its connections between ten French destinations. In addition, the company has rolled out its services in France, with all the attributes of its flagship product, the AVE (high-speed) services, which brings comfort, punctuality and quality of customer service, and with additional features, such as onboard Wi-Fi and entertainment, food and drinks, special luggage policies and a flexible pricing system.
